PRIVACY POLICY

We respect your privacy and want to be transparent about how we handle your information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, please email us at info@houseofvedanta.org we are always happy to help.

1. Who We Are

House of Vedanta Pune ('we', 'us', 'our') operates the website www.houseofvedanta.org (the 'Site'), including all audio and visual lectures, recordings, and webcasts available through it. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal information when you use the Site.

Our designated Grievance Officer for privacy-related concerns is Linestha Chavan. You can reach her at info@houseofvedanta.org.

2. What Information We Collect

2a. Information You Give Us Directly

When you register on our Site, we collect:

  • •      Personal details — your name, age, city, and country of residence

  • •      Contact details — your phone number and email address

If you make a donation, you will be redirected to PayU Payments Private Limited, our payment gateway. Any financial or personal information you provide on PayU's platform is governed by PayU's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. We do not store your payment card details.

For donations, we may also ask for additional identity information such as passport number, citizenship, or tax identification numbers. This is required to comply with Indian tax and trust regulations.

2b. Information We Collect Automatically

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which automatically collects certain technical information to run and improve the Site. This includes:

  • •      Browser type, device type, and network information

  • •      Pages you visited before arriving at our Site

  • •      Pages you view while on our Site

  • •      Your IP address

This data is used in de-identified, aggregated form to analyse and improve our website's performance. It is not used to identify you personally.

2c. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help operate the Site and understand how it is used. There are two types:

  • •      Essential cookies — always active; these are required to securely serve the website to you.

  • •      Analytics & performance cookies — only activated when you acknowledge our cookie banner; these help us understand site traffic and visitor activity.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings:

  • ◦       Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer

Please note that disabling cookies may affect your experience on the Site.

3. Why We Collect Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

  • •      To provide our services, including event updates, reminders, and session access

  • •      To tailor relevant services based on your age and location

  • •      To keep you informed about upcoming events, study programs, and learning opportunities

  • •      To comply with our legal obligations — including fraud prevention, tax compliance, and trust regulations

  • •      To run, maintain, and improve our website using aggregated, de-identified analytics data

We do not use your information for any purpose not listed here without your prior consent.

4. Third-Party Tracking & Advertising

4a. Google Analytics

We use a minimal build of Google Analytics to understand how people use our Site. This transmits certain data to Google's servers in the United States, including page titles, URLs, device type, screen resolution, geographic region, and file downloads. This data is used only to help us improve the website experience.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

4b. Facebook Pixel

We use the Facebook Pixel on our Site for two purposes:

  • •      Remarketing — to show relevant House of Vedanta content to people who have previously visited our Site when they are on Facebook or other partner websites (within a 180-day window).

  • •      Conversion tracking — to measure whether Facebook ads are effective by seeing whether visitors arrived at our Site after clicking one of our ads.

This only activates if you have agreed to our cookie banner. When active, your browser establishes a direct connection with Facebook's servers. If you are logged into Facebook, this visit may be associated with your account. Facebook processes this data under its own Data Policy.

You can opt out of Facebook Pixel tracking through Facebook's ad settings or your browser's cookie management tools.

4c. Embedded Content

Our Site may include embedded content from other websites, such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves as if you visited those websites directly — they may collect data, use cookies, and track your interactions, particularly if you are logged into an account on those platforms. Please refer to the Privacy Policy of YouTube (www.youtube.com) for more details.
